A lifetime in the industry
About
Matthew Knott grew up in construction. His stepfather was a general contractor who built custom homes, and Matthew worked for him through high school and college. Then he spent twenty years managing a home improvement store.
Build a project as if it were your own home.
In 2018 he left the salary, took two projects, and started Columbine.
Traci Knott runs operations, accounting and a good deal of the design. Between them they have built more than 160 units and well over $100M of work, all of it new construction, about half single-family and half multi-unit.
Every project has come through a bank, an architect, a realtor, or a developer who built with them before and came back.

Flat fee, open books.
We charge a flat fee for our services, no mark up on labor or materials.
The owner is on your site.
The owner is personally involved in every project. Site conditions, quality and schedule get reviewed directly, not delegated and reported back, so problems get caught early and resolved quickly.
A real bench.
Five project managers, each running about three projects, so your project gets the attention it deserves.
Forty to fifty units a year.
Big enough to get the best prices from suppliers and subs, but small enough the owners are hands on with every site.
We can teach construction knowledge and processes. It is hard to teach a positive attitude.
